Help Liz Beat Leukemia during Covid-19

Friends,
Many of you have the good fortune to know Elizabeth “Liz” Yount, whether through Grammar School, Edwin Markham Junior High, Willow Glen High, her work or as friends. We all know her as ever kind, with a loving, generous spirit. Her sense of humor along with her laughter and, especially her giggles, brings smiles to all. Liz is the “Queen of Listening.” Always making time to listen to family and friends and help them see clearly through their difficult situations no matter where she is or what she is doing. Liz is an angel-in-disguise, lifting others up when they are down or burdened with a problem. Now it is our turn to return the favor. Liz is in need, and we are asking you to help out.
Three years ago, with great fortitude, Liz quietly battled and survived breast cancer. More recently, as a self-employed, master of artful custom draperies, pillows and soft furnishings, her livelihood came to a complete stop due to the COVID-19 quarantine, and now, in August, Liz collapsed and was rushed to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with Leukemia. As she undergoes hospital stays, isolation and an extended period of chemotherapy treatment, Liz needs our help to offset mounting medical and day to day living expenses.
Liz’s Leukemia requires specialized, life stabilizing care, resulting in her Doctors moving her to the ICU at San Francisco’s California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC). Liz's treatment will be approximately three to four rounds of chemotherapy. Liz will be in the hospital for four week each time she is admitted. Currently, she is completing her second treatment and will be discharged October 28th. There will be a three week stay at home and Liz will return to the hospital in November for multiple, weeklong, 24/7 chemotherapy treatments. She will do all of this without the comfort of visitors, due to restrictions caused by the pandemic.
Despite having to face so many hardships, Liz’s cheerful spirit and positive attitude endure. Unable to work, and with depleted savings, she still has all of the typical monthly food, utility and housing expenses, compounded by medical, pharmaceutical and transportation needs. During quarantined, and at high risk for infection while her blood cells rejuvenate, her sister, Patty (herself on a fixed income), is caring and providing for Liz in-between rounds of Chemotherapy.
Now, more than ever, Liz needs our uplifting hands. Helping Liz with her medical and daily expenses will serve, exponentially, in helping her heal by giving her the freedom to focus on herself and let go of daily worries. Liz has always believed in the generosity and goodness of her community, and offered herself up to us. Now, by our support, we can reinforce her faith in us, by returning the kindness.
Please consider extending your generosity and kindness to Liz during this dark, difficult, life threatening time in her life. Nothing is insignificant; every bit helps. Also, please feel free to pass this information along to anyone who might be able to help. Attached is a Go Fund Me link where you may send a donation with the comfort of knowing every dollar you donate will go directly to Liz’s care. The family of Josephine Hobbs and Travis Bond, have already pledged to cover all fees up to $5,000.00 charged by Go Fund Me, to further ensure that every dollar donated to Liz, goes to Liz.
Please join us in showing Liz how much we care.
