Help Liz Fight Brain Cancer

Donation protected

Hello! My name is Amanda and I am trying to raise money for my 27 year old sister, Liz.

Liz was brought to the emergency room on July 29th due to severe migraines. She was in a lot of pain and experiencing numbness in her face and limbs. Results from the MRI, done that night, showed multiple lesions on her brain (cerebellum area). It was decided that Liz needed to undergo brain surgery on August 1st in order to biopsy and possibly remove one of the tumors. Leading up to surgery day, she had to have numerous CT scans, MRIs, and blood draws in order to prep for the procedure.

The surgery on August 1st was successful. The neurosurgeon was able to remove the largest tumor, which ended up being egg sized. An initial biopsy confirmed that the tumor was cancerous, though the specimen needed to be sent out for further examination. She developed some brain swelling after the surgery which caused her a lot of pain. Later in the week, we were told that Liz had Medulloblastoma. This form of cancer is more common in children, but has been found in some adults as well.

Liz underwent a second brain surgery on August 9th to remove another tumor on the other side of her cerebellum. She had to do more MRI scans leading up to the surgery again to make sure nothing had changed.

On August 12th, a follow-up MRI revealed that Liz had one more tumor. This one is located further in the brain, near a major artery. The neurosurgeon and oncology team decided that it would be too risky to operate on this tumor due to its location.

Liz will be leaving the hospital on August 16th and living with my husband and I for a while. She will undergo radiation of her brain and spine for 5 days a week for at least 1 month. She will also have to have chemo treatments as well.

Liz had TWO BRAIN SURGERIES and has been so strong through all of it. She has been in the ICU for most of her hospital stay and has had to have round the clock pain medicine and steroids. Even though she has been dealing with so much mentally and physically, she has had a smile on her face and a positive attitude the entire time. We all have faith that she will beat this cancer because she is the strongest person we know!

As I've previously mentioned, she has had to undergo 2 surgeries and numerous scans and tests throughout this process. She will also have to undergo at least 1 month of treatment. The costs of all these tests and surgeries are quickly adding up. I am creating this fundraiser hoping that Liz can solely focus on beating this thing instead of worrying about how she is going to pay for the costs that are adding up. Any donation you are able to make would go directly to cover her hospital and treatment bills. Liz, myself, and our family greatly appreciate any amount you are able to contribute. Healing thoughts and prayers are also greatly appreciated! Thank you!
