Help Lizel Fehr recover after a car accident

On July 21, 2019 a very lovely and bright 17 year-old Lizel (Elizaveta) Fehr was riding in a passenger seat of her friend’s car when they got into a terrible car crash just outside of Eureka, Illinois. The car rolled over twice, and even though Lizel was wearing a seat belt she sustained very serious injuries including a broken spine. Lizel managed to climb out of the car and was found unconscious near the scene of the accident.
She was immediately transported to the OSF Children's Hospital in Peoria, IL where she is undergoing surgeries and further treatment for 3 fractured vertebrae in her neck and back (C1, C2 and L2), severe concussion, torn muscles and ligaments, and a broken right wrist. The photos you see were taken the day before and the day after the accident - what a huge difference can one day make in a person's life! Lizel's family was devastated when they received the news fearing the worst. They were relieved to learn that she was not paralyzed, but her way to recovery will still be very long and challenging. Lizel is in a lot of pain and requires extra care.
We are long-time friends of Lizel’s mom Natalya Malakhova. Natalya also has a younger daughter Lilliana and works long hours to support her two girls. Lizel worked as a lifeguard at a local pool to help pay the bills. They live from paycheck to paycheck and she cannot afford to take any time off work to be with Lizel when she needs her mom the most.
We are asking for your donations to enable Natalya cover day-to-day living expenses while she provides care for Lizel. As a family they are also facing very large medical bills. Natalya feels very distraught and overwhelmed and we want to help her out. All proceeds will go toward Lizel’s recovery and the financial support of the family.
Lizel is an exceptionally bright, self-disciplined and multi-talented teenager who is a top student, a published author, an avid reader and a star athlete aiming to be accepted at top universities. She has already won many awards and was featured in local news on several occasions.
Right now taking even 2 small steps with a walker feels like a huge progress to her. Please help her get back on her feet soon!
