Help Local Artist Chip Phelan Fight Cancer

Hello, my name is Madeline and I’m looking to raise funds to help my grandfather Chip fight aggressive stage 2 bladder cancer. Robert “Chip” Phelan is a Rhode Island based artist who has been sculpting natural forms from foraged cherry wood burls for decades, most recently taking the form of unique mushroom statues. If you’ve ever met Chip, you are aware that he is one of the most kindhearted and generous people you could have the pleasure of knowing. He is, and has always been, the type to give you the shirt off of his back if you asked. At this time, Chip is the one in need of help as he begins this physically, mentally, and financially difficult battle. My family and I are ready to support Chip in every way we can during this journey, but the cost of treatment on top of the general cost of living can be crushing for any working class household, and adds a great deal of stress to an already stressful time. Funds will go towards medical bills, household bills, and keeping Chip as comfortable as possible while he recovers from procedures such as surgery and chemo.
