Help Local Business Man Recover After Fire

Hey all. My name is Tiffany and my husband, Matthew, and I are raising funds to assist my father in law ( Matt's dad) after recently losing the majority of his business equipment in an unexplained fire. Most of you who are local to the area know, or have at least heard of Ken Waldrop, owner and operator of Ken's Lawn and Landscaping. Ken built his business from the ground up and for nearly 3 decades has been serving those in Yancey and surrounding counties. If you've ever had the pleasure of making his acquaintance, there is no denying he is truly unforgettable.

The epitome of a hard working man, Ken has continued to work tirelessly throughout the years despite 4 heart attacks, a completely rebuilt spine, nearly losing an arm in a chainsaw incident and more close calls and could have been worse situations than we care to count.

At 11:59 pm on Sunday June 25th, Ken and wife Juanita were lying in bed when they heard the explosion of what they thought to be a transformer blowing. Exiting their room they were met by their son yelling to dial 911. The trailer containing equipment, truck and surrounding area was engulfed in flames. Police, EMS and first responders were quick to arrive but were unable to assist until the fire department arrived. Despite the best efforts of those with the fire department, nothing could be salvaged. Tens of thousands of dollars laid burnt on the ground and being blown about with the wind. Devastated doesn't begin to describe the emotion we, as a family, are experiencing.

Anyone who knows Ken, knows the he has the heart of a servant and loves nothing more than to be able to give. The first to give to those experiencing a need in the community, he asks for nothing in return.

We are reaching out to any in the community who feel led to help us rebuild a business that has been years in the making. More so we are asking to help build up a family who has given so much to others.

All proceeds will go directly to replacing items consumed by the fire.
