Help Logan Get His Lifesaving Diabetes Dog
Donation protected
Logan’s diagnosis came as a complete shock to us last year. We quickly learned the challenges and fears of juvenile diabetes. Like anyone suffering from diabetes, numbers quickly become a part of your daily routine, carbohydrate numbers, blood sugar numbers, insulin numbers, doctors’ numbers.
Type 1 Diabetes is an insulin dependent disease. This means that if Logan does not have insulin injections he will die. He does have CGM that alerts his highs/lows. If his sensor fails or does not have one at that time, he still will have to finger prick consistently. His numbers fluctuate every day. If he becomes low, he can have a seizure/ or die. (Recently he has been having low episodes and has scared us a few times. During the day and at night. Me and my husband have an app that can watch his sensor as well. If there is a power outage, anything else technology will not always help. Finger pricks would be the only option.
We are raising money for a diabetes dog that could alert him and wake him up when his blood sugar is spiking or dropping quickly. This dog would go with Logan everywhere with him. The D.A.D. (Diabetic Alert Dog) is covered by ADA meaning he is allowed to go anywhere. Service dog. He will always be with him.
We have been in contact with a training facility that will work with the dog and us.
Purchase of the dog, training, pet insurance, cost of care, and continued training/refresher training will be needed.
Anything you can donate will help make this possible.
Thank you!
