Help Loki Recover from a Urinary Blockage and Pneumonia

Hello everyone,

My name is Julianne, and I'm reaching out to you for help with my sweet cat, Loki. Yesterday, Loki was rushed to the hospital due to a urinary blockage caused by bladder stones. The emergency procedure to remove the blockage and empty his bladder was successful, but our journey to recovery is far from over.

After his initial procedure, Loki was transferred to an animal hospital where he will need to stay for several days. His condition was extremely critical, with potassium levels dangerously high at 9.7 (deathly amount is 10) and kidney levels at 1070. Thankfully, the amazing veterinary team was able to stabilize him. As of today, Loki's potassium levels are back to normal, and his kidney levels have decreased to 370 (170 is considered high normal).

Unfortunately, Loki has now developed pneumonia, which is particularly serious given his pre-existing asthma. He has been placed in an air chamber to assist his breathing. Despite these challenges, there are signs of hope—his breathing, though labored, is improving, and he even managed to eat on his own today.

The next steps for Loki's recovery include:

- Normalizing his kidney levels

- Clearing the fluid from his lungs

- Ensuring he can breathe normally on his own

- Removing the catheter once there's no more blood in his urine, so he can hopefully pee on his own and be sent home

Loki’s bladder stones are one of two types: one that can dissolve through a special diet, and one that requires surgical removal. He will be placed on a special diet in the hopes of dissolving the stones, and we will know in 4-6 weeks if surgery is necessary.

Loki is an incredibly sweet and loving cat. He greets me at the door every day, rolls around on his back for belly rubs, and loves to cuddle, often sleeping on my head at night. He means the world to me, and seeing him in pain is heartbreaking.

We are looking to raise $8,000 to cover Loki's hospital stay and the necessary treatments. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a huge difference and bring us one step closer to bringing Loki back home, happy and healthy.
