Lonzo "Z" overcoming dyslexia tuition fund
2020 was a challenging year for most parents. Covid-19 effected a lot of students and caused a lot of students to attend virtual school. This was an opportunity for most parents to witness their child learning first hand. It seemed to be a breeze for us until it came to reading and writing. We knew Lonzo struggled with reading but thought he just needed extra help. Extra help was no help and in some instances he showed regression. His writing struggled as well. Numbers and letters were backwards which we were told by teachers this was something that was normal for his age and would clear up as he was corrected. This wasn't the case for us. We had him tested and he was diagnosed with dyslexia in February. We allowed him to finish our Public school but their resource will continuously have him 2 grade levels behind in reading and writing. Lonzo is extremely smart! He loves math and science. 2 grade levels behind isn't acceptable to him and causes him anxiety and frustration we can't stand to watch. We are asking for the community's help to pay for Lonzo's school tuition. A school for dyslexic children Where they learn to decode and transition successfully in a traditional classroom. Unfortunately public school just does have the resources and where we plan for our children's college tuition, we never thought we would be paying double college tuition for an elementary education. This is to insure he doesn't fall through the cracks due to lack of resources. Only 68% of dyslexic graduate high school. And only 34% graduate college. Those odds just aren't good enough for our son. Our children are the future: Our engineers, builders, doctors. We just want to give our son the tools to have the best options.
Any amount helps and we greatly appreciate you all.
