Hi, my name is Neal Naylor, a close family friend of Lorenzo Larry Gibson and his wife, Samantha.
They have asked me to help them organize this GoFundMe page for my friend. I am more than happy to do so.
This letter is from Samantha:
My husband, Lorenzo Larry Gibson, was out walking our dog on Isla Mujeres, MX on June 13th when he suffered a serious heart attack. He was rushed to the hospital by ambulance where doctors diagnosed a heart attack caused by two right branch bundle artery blockages. They then informed us that they had no cardiologist on their staff. So, I transported him to Cancun via the ferry and we transported him to the public hospital. He was admitted and in the next two days, he rapidly declined due to very poor care. Almost none.
In an urgent emergency, I had him moved to a private hospital, Quirurgica del Sur in Cancun. He has been here for the past 10 days. We have no health insurance in Mexico. I have paid out of pocket my last $20,000.00 in USD and also have maxed out our credit cards. And funds sent by a few kind friends.
- Here they diagnosed him with the two right branch artery blockages. Also, doctors have told us his kidneys are failing and his blood pressure was 70 over 43. So dangerously low. It is now up to 113 over 74 but, not stabilized. It and his other vital signs are fluctuating up and down and not stable. He is fighting to survive while unstable. This hospital is not doing much with his heart due to his kidneys. We have Medicare and Medicaid in the USA where he needs to be, in order to get the proper medical care so seriously needed at this time. He also needs to be air evacuated to a waiting hospital there. He is that ill.
- What prompted me to ask for your help here on GoFundMe was the reality that I am this close to losing my husband and best friend if we don’t act now. The funds I am asking for will cover continued hospitalization, doctors fees and all other medical expenses incurred for his stay here in Cancun until he’s stable enough to fly to the states by air evacuation. The flight alone is $30,000+. By REVA Company. Other expenses are housing, and food etc close to the hospital during his stay and care in the USA.
- He is trying hard to survive, now we just need to give him the opportunity to do it.
- He is such a great human being and loved by so many. He’s a husband, son, dad and friend. Always caring about others and the environment around him.
- Anything you can give small or large is so gratefully appreciated. And, respectfully deep love comes from our hearts to yours.
It is crucial right now for us to raise the funds as soon as possible. His chances of surviving this harrowing experience and medical condition are still hopeful.
