Help Lori and Dirk navigate this new way of life
Hi friends!
My name is Evalena, daughter of Lori and Dirk.
I have started this go fund me because, as some of you know, Dirk had a stroke on May 4th. Their lives were turned upside down in an instant.
For many, many years, Dirk has helped and perhaps even saved, countless lives in celebrate recovery both at their Florida home church, and back in Indiana as well. He is a man who is no stranger to struggle and addiction, and with his rebirthed life, has helped so many others in the same boat. Too many to count. This man is one of the most giving, selfless, caring and empathetic individuals you will ever meet. Not to mention hard working.
Since the stroke, he has no longer been able to teach at his local celebrate recovery, but is also now out of work and with no income. His body and brain truly need months to heal, and this is a process that takes time. The financial burdens have now set in, as my mom (Lori) is at home as his care taker and takes him to speech therapy 5 days a week.
I come to you humbly asking, if you have anything to give, please consider it.
In order for Dirk to get back to work, he needs her there, and he needs to heal at home, without the stresses of life and finances that has been thrown at them in this time.
With these stresses, it’s hard to focus on recovery when they are taking it day by day, hoping that they don’t have to move out drastically and rushed because of the lack of income, etc.
Our goal is to raise money, so that she can take care of him while healing, and they can live comfortably while doing so for the next 6 months or so.
Again, I ask you all humbly to find it in your hearts to give what you can. If you are unable to give money, we welcome prayers for healing and their endeavors ahead.
This money will go to medical bills, rent, cost of living, etc as it is already high.
We lived together for many years with my son (Maveryk) and all 4 is us became the best of friends. Dirk, who was once a stranger to me, became a father for me.
These two mean the entire world to me, and not being there to help makes it so much harder.
Dirk has always been the guy to be there for the people he cares about, and even strangers. He has also never hesitated to give, and give incredibly selflessly, and because of that I can’t think of anyone else but him that deserves this act of service.
Thank you for reading, and thank you deeply if you donate. Our gratitude is ever flowing.
*Please share this with anyone you can, as well as social media. Dirk has touched many lives and my goal is to get this all over the place!
