Help my wife kick cancer's behind!

Hi my name is Mark, a few months ago my wife Lori felt a small lump in her neck. She went to go get a massage due to her previous neck surgeries and the therapist felt the lump but massaged over it, a few days later it grew to the size of an egg. She went to her regular doctor to see what was going on and after alot of testing she was diagnosed with oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma in her lymph node. (Mouth/throat cancer)

They are working on finding the source, it has to be somewhere in her mouth or throat. The first step is getting a PET scan. The PET scan alone is going to be $2100 out of pocket. Our out of pocket deductible before insurance pays anything is $5,400.

She has to go to alot of doctors, including a radiation oncologist and will also be going to an ear nose and throat cancer doctor at the Mayo clinic in Phoenix to get the best care we possibly can.

On top of the cost of treatment she will only get paid short term disability which will have a week with no pay and then only pay her 60% of her salary for the weeks she will go through treatment. For now they are thinking surgery and radiation but we will get more information after seeing the doctor in Phoenix and I will be sure to update everyone.

My wife takes good care of herself and quit smoking 10 years ago! We are hopeful we are going to kick this thing so she can have a long and healthy life. We are hoping for radiation instead of chemo but we will see what the doctor says.

I also travel out of town every other week so I am going to have to take off work to help her and unfortunately because it's not my medical issue I am not going to be paid. This is going to devastate our family financially.
