Help Lory Roberts recover in the Neuro ICU
Donation protected
Hi everyone! My mom, Lory, recently had a very unexpected and serious medical emergency.
On August 6th, 2024, my mother was taken to the local hospital with a bad migraine and nausea, whilst being in an intense psychosis. It was quickly determined that my mom was experiencing a brain hemorrhage.
Lory was urgently transported to Memorial Hermann in the Houston Medical District and has been receiving care for the past week in the neuro-intensive care unit. Her stay is expected to continue for at least another week.
In the afternoon of August 9th, 2024 my mom unfortunately experienced a stroke while in the hospital. We are feeling so lucky and blessed that her AMAZING nurses and doctors were able to stabilize her quickly.
Unfortunately, my mom is now left with blindness in the right side of each of her eyes as well as memory loss issues.
She had an external ventricular drain placed since arriving, as well as multiple procedures to try to repair the hemorrhaging, plus locate and repair further damage. We are currently waiting to see if she will need a shunt placed to permanently drain cerebrospinal fluid from her brain.
With that being said, my mom will have to take some major time off from her job at the local prom and bridal dress shop in League City, Jill's. Lory is also no longer able to drive, and will have to work with physical and occupational therapists to regain her everyday skills.
While this has all gone array, my father, Terry, has been in between two jobs. This means that there is no active health insurance for my mother. Her hospital stay and procedures will all be self-pay. My sisters, Shawndell and Kelsey, and I are hoping to raise money for some of her medical bills while she recovers.
Everyone knows Lory (aka LOLO!) is quite the strong-willed woman! I know she will fight hard to recover! We just hope that we can lessen at least one thing during her recovery!
Thank you to all who have reached out with so much love and so many prayers during this all. It has been quite the shock, but we are STRONG and GOD IS GOOD!
