Help Louie Fight Back

This is my granddog, Louie, and he needs some help. Louie is currently hospitalized with a spontaneous pneumothorax which is when air leaks from the lungs and accumulates in the chest cavity outside the lungs in the absence of any trauma. When Louie first went into the ER, they were able to tap both sides of his chest to release the air, but it continues to intermittently return. This caused the surgeon to place a chest tube in order to hook him up to a vacuum system that continuously releases air in order for Louie's lungs to stay inflated. The Veterinarian was able to get Louie's lungs stable enough for a CT scan that will allow for the surgeon to understand what is causing this to happen. It will also show the surgeon the location the air is leaking from so she is prepared for surgery. During surgery the area(s) of the lung lobes will be removed allowing for the air to stop leaking into the chest cavity. Louie is my buddy, and we spent 2 years training together before he was certified to serve his community as a trailing dog helping locate lost and missing people. He also received his Canine Good Citizenship from the American Kennel Club. Louie is one of a kind and is loved by everyone he comes in contact with. He has such a big personality and loves all of his 2 and 4 legged friends.
