Help Luca Fight Cancer ( The Champ )

Hi, My name is John. I am fundraising for my Grandsons Leo and Luca.

On behalf of myself and my family, we would like to try and raise as much money as possible for my Grandsons, who have been through a difficult time over the last 9-12 months.

My youngest Grandson Luca was Diagnosed with a rare type of cancerous tumour known as an IMT tumour. Luca, at the time, was only four months old when this news was introduced to the family. Luca, since then, has been fighting away for the past nine months as he gets chemotherapy twice a day with other medicines to fight the illness. The Complications this has on a family are never really recognised because we focus on Luca and not mum, the dad, or most of all, Leo, his older brother, who needs to get pushed from pillar to post so Luca can go to the hospital.

My Son and his family have missed out on lots of opportunities such as Holidays and more importantly making memories for their 2 sons Leo and Luca. Luca because Hes a baby there is loads of side effects attacking his immune system this results in numerous overnight stays at hospital to make sure he can get home where he belongs.

Were Luca being now is that Hes been on Chemotherapy for the past 9 months with 3 monthly Scans to make sure the tumour is Shrinking away from the nerves so the surgeons can get in and remove it. with everything just happening so fast Lucas last and recent scan showed that the chemo is working but not as fast as they hoped so for the next 18 months or so Luca will still receive chemo twice daily for the time being with scans and ECGs in between then to monitor progress. The Hardest part for my son and his family is Luca's treatment is in the unknown where they don't know for sure when he can get off his chemo i could be 2 years or more before making those decisions the doctors nurses and carers have been great with him but they are still trying to find answers as well to reassure the family.

My Son Kieran is also just organised a Charity event to give back to his ward that look after him and other kids the Chairty is called Glasgow's Childrens Charity for sick kids. My son is always helping others to become better as its in his nature, but I just want to give something back to the family so when Luca rings his bell with a big smile on his face hopefully in the next couple years that we can send them away on holiday to start making memories with their 2 sons as a happy family.

If we reach our target for my Family then Kieran my son wants half to go to the Charity, he is working with, and the other half will go to my grandsons Leo And Luca.

Kieran has already made such significant Progress raising funds with friends and family for raffles etc I just feel it's my need for a father to try and make sure my family get something positive out of this for them.

I Just feel my need as a father is to try and help my family get something positive out off this esepcially luca.
