Help Lucy Hernandez & Family Rebuild After LA Fires
Donation protected
My dear friend, Lucy Hernandez, and her dad lost their lifelong home in the Palisades fire.
This is all that remains of Lucy’s home, where she lived her entire life.
To add to the devastation, Lucy’s sister, brother-in-law, and young niece and nephew’s home is still at risk from the fire in nearby Mandeville Canyon and although it’s unlikely, they are hoping, by some miracle, that it will be spared.
The Hernandez family already endured the shattering loss of Lucy’s mom, Alita Hernandez, in August 2024. By the time the LA fires struck on January 7th, 2025, they were already reeling from her loss. Now, they’ve lost everything else.
Lucy only escaped with a laundry basket of clean clothes, her beloved watercolors, and her 3 dogs and 4 cats.
They lost all of their work clothing, family photos, solid wood antiques that were left to Lucy by her late mom, including a 100 year old rocking chair that her mom rocked her in as a baby that had been in their family for around 100 years. They lost their home office equipment, computers and keyboard and printers.
I met Lucy 12 years ago in college at Antioch University Los Angeles. She is one of the kindest and most generous people I’ve ever met. She is a talented writer and a lover of anime. She is a pure soul.
It took her a long time to agree to let me make her a gofundme because she’s usually the one giving. She said, “I feel terrible taking stuff. But I want to feel safe again.”
If you are able, let’s please help Lucy and her family rebuild their life and feel safe again. Funds will go directly to support them with unexpected costs and necessities during this challenging time.
Please share this GoFundMe!
Thank you.
