Help Lucy a rescue dog get the surgery she needs
Donation protected
I rescued Lucy or LULU Sunday June 30th her previous owner, tried to rehome her middle of June and from her post I could see that the dog was malnourished along with other people she had said that she had gotten the dog from someone else in this condition. I told the current owner that we got her from that she needed to be seen by a vet. She could possibly even have worms. She said that Lucy had already been seen by a vet and did not have worms, but she had changed her mind at that time about rehoming her Told her to let me know in the future if she ever needed any help, I gave her recommendation on vitamins and high calorie supplements . About two weeks later, she had messaged me asking if I was still interested in Lucy and I felt like I could really save her and give her a good life. I had fostered one malnourished dog in the past. And I also have experience with Great Danes. I knew when I got her that she would need to see the vet and that she would need some TLC. And the multivitamin and the calorie booster like I had recommended. Before we picked her up I made sure that all those things were purchased.
when we got her, we also noticed a injury on her tail that I believe started off as happy tail syndrome, where the dog repeatedly hits their tail off of things , walls, crates, ext . but her tail is in really bad condition like it had been left for a very long time untreated . The skin is black, and it almost looks rotted and dead. I knew right when I saw it that the tail would need to be amputated.
also, the first night we had her when she stood up in our bed she yelped and is now limping on her left back leg. I’m not sure if she fractured her hip or foot, but she’s in a lot of pain and it’s likely caused by the malnourishment because of her lack of muscle that she’s lost and probably lack of calcium which causes weaker bones . We have a vet appointment set up for 11 o’clock today at Mahoning Valley veterinary clinic. Today is July 1st 2024 . we are asking for donations to help us get the treatment that she needs. She is malnourished. She will likely need the tail amputated and now she may need orthopedic surgery along with x-rays.
We do have a small savings, but we do not think that it’s going to be enough for what she needs .
We just started our own business a few months back and we do have kids and other dogs and expenses. Unfortunately, CareCredit is not an option as I do not have a line of credit because I have never owned a home, bought a car on payments, or had a credit card. And no credits just as bad , bad credit.
please help us save her. She’s a really great dog with a lot of love. And we already love her.
