Help Lugene prepare for winter

Hi, my name is Makenzie Malone, but this fundraiser isn't for me. This fundraiser is for my friend Lugene.

Lugene is a man with one of the best smiles I have ever seen. He is 66 years old, struggling with dialysis, and sadly, a part of the homeless population here in Birmingham, Alabama. I can not count the number of days that I have left my office, only to turn the corner and be greeted by his friendly face. Over the last 5 months, we have grown a close bond. He has been there for me on days when I need to vent, on days when I need someone to enjoy a sunny day with me, on days when I need advice, he has been there. It may seem like an odd friendship, I know, but I believe God brings the right people in your life at the right time. Lugene reminds me every day that you can find friendship in the most random places of life, and that Jesus shows you his love exactly when you need it if you're open to it. I have been blessed with a new job opportunity, and sadly, will no longer get to see my friend every day.

During the last 5 months, Lugene has never asked me for anything, except maybe to share a bag of my grapes, and to fill his water bottle with "iceeee collllld wattttterrrrrr". I normally would never share someone's story, but with it being Christmas, I figured this would be the perfect time to give Lugene everything he has never asked for. With this Fundraiser, I am hoping to be able to get him a nice winter coat, (it has already gotten below freezing multiple nights), a pair of winter boots, and a hotel room for a night for him to enjoy. I decided that not asking my friends and family to participate, would be blocking the blessings Lugene could possibly encounter.
