Help Luke Kick Cancer

As many of you know, my brother, Luke Nelson, was recently diagnosed with a rare form of throat cancer. The last month has been extremely taxing as Luke and Hazel processed the diagnosis, met with several teams of doctors, navigated what insurance will cover and what it won’t, and decided on the best treatment plan. Over the next few months, Luke will undergo a regiment of chemo and radiation. After that, they will conduct scans and scopes to monitor their progress. We are hopeful that will be the end of needed treatment!

Everyone who knows my brother knows him to be one of the most kind, generous, loyal, and thoughtful people they’ve ever met— unless you’re the fan of an opposing team, then all bets are off. If you have kids, he’s probably their favorite person! I can tell you, as his little sister, there is no one else I’d rather have in my corner.

So, we are turning to our wide-ranging network of support for financial assistance at this time. The last thing we want Luke to worry about is money. He would NEVER ask for this kind of help on his own, but the reality is they will need it. Luke and Hazel are incredibly hard workers and love the craft beer industry, and even more so, the folks that have become good friends through that community. However, both of them are likely to miss quite a bit of work during the course of treatment. Additionally, to avoid paying 100% out of pocket, they switched Luke to Hazel’s insurance, which comes with a ridiculous monthly premium, on top of items that are still not fully covered.

I know my brother positively impacts everyone he meets. Those of us that are lucky enough to call him family or friend are heartbroken that he has to face this diagnosis, but with all of your support, we can make it a little easier for the guy who makes all of our lives a little brighter.
