Help Luna fight ITP

Hey! My name is Maegan & I am fundraising for our sweet goldendoodle, Luna. Just last week she was her usual, rambunctious self playing with my daughters & today she is fighting for her life in NC State Veterinary Hospital. Last week Luna began bleeding from her gums, we brushed it off as if she had just bitten something that cut her gums. A couple days passed & Luna became lethargic, wouldn’t eat or drink & wasn’t acting her usual self. After we noticed she had black tarry stools in conjunction to her gums bleeding, we rushed her to Highland Animal Hospital in Fayetteville NC where she was monitored. Her tests results came back with a 0.00 platelet count, 13.4 hematocrit & a WBC of 34. This alarmed the medical team to do a blood transfusion before she was sent home with us. The bill for the day was $1,300.

Yesterday, Luna began spitting up blood clots & losing blood through her stool again to the point to where we were ready to say our goodbyes if needed because she was still refusing food & water. We loaded up our 3 daughters & Luna into our van & headed to the urgent care facility in Vass. After having the clinic run more labs, they found that her hematocrit had only risen to 16 & her platelets were still 0. The vet encouraged us to continue Luna’s care at NC State Veterinary Hospital in Raleigh. After discussing the options, NC State agreed to accept Luna’s case & she was admitted to their ICU following a $3,000 deposit.

After discussing with the IM Vet today, Luna will need atleast one, if not 2 more blood transfusions & possibly a platelet transfusion. She will also need to be monitored in the hospital until atleast Wednesday, if not longer should a platelet transfusion is needed. This could ultimately cost $11,000 to save Luna’s life.

I am not very good at asking for help like this but Luna is a young, nearly 4 year old Goldendoodle who has been by our side through many PCS moves & health ailments in our lives. To say I would appreciate every penny is an understatement. We have been so blessed to be her puppy parents & pray we can continue to do so.
