Help Luna Jump and Play Again

Donation protected
My Luna tuna, my baby doggie, my mama bear, my snuggle bug, my big girrrlll!

I’m sure you all know Luna. She found her way to me through a shelter after being transferred into Delaware from the awful hurricanes that hit North Carolina in 2018 because they were over capacity. I was in the Delaware Humane Association shelter just browsing one day and came across my doggo, then named “Pearl”. She was just sitting in her little cell, looking uncomfortable and sad. “I’d like to see this one, please” they let her come out and play with us and it was instantly love - she was gentle, loving, and oh, so patient with my kids.

When it was time for her to go back, sadness filled the room. We walked her back into the holding area and said our goodbyes. On our way out, I asked them about the application process and what I needed to do because I made up my mind, I wasn’t leaving without her!

While waiting for papers, I asked if I could see her again and they quickly walked me to her cage, opened it, and allowed me to walk in to see her. I walked in and sat with her and just held her, promising I’d be back for her the next day!

I went back the next day and got the senior discount for my old girl, finding out she was almost 8, lol I loved her even more!

She’s been the bestest and most loyal girl since, with the occasional sprint around the block!

Fast forward to 3/4 years later, Luna started developing a mass on her side which seemed to be growing fairly slowly and then another showed up shortly after. We didn’t think much of it because they didn’t really disrupt any of her activity or seem to bother her at all.

I was living alone in my townhouse with two boys at the time and life was so busy, we stopped thinking about it and stopped noticing it as Luna just played and never seemed bothered by them. Here we are now, another couple of years and they’ve started to bother my old girl. She’s having a hard time jumping up to lay on the couch with me, sometimes steps on them and it’s definitely impacting her mobility. I’m asking for help because I want Luna to jump and play, again!! She’s still so full of life!
