Help Save My Precious Baby Cat, Luna

Meet Luna: our furry little cat, whom we adopted last Christmas. She is a shy, inquisitive, and well-behaved British Shorthair who sneaks around the house like a raccoon. But last week, we noticed something off about her. Her abdomen was significantly distended. We took her to the hospital, where she was initially diagnosed with pyometra, a bacterial infection of the uterus. However, upon surgery, the vet saw a hepatic cyst 3 times the size of her liver after draining.

Our family has been struck with this unexpected situation, and we face the very real possibility of euthanasia. The cyst has been drained, and Luna is recovering from the procedure, shaken and having lost 12% of her body weight over the last 24 hours, but otherwise stable.

Luna is currently recovering from her first surgery, and luckily, she is showing reassuring signs of her basic needs like eating, drinking and washroom. However, we are racing against time before another surgery is required. We have already spent thousands up to this point, and are likely going to have to pay for followup visits at the vet and another surgical procedure such as removal or fenestration to prevent further cyst growth. The cost of surgery and other fees, such as CT imaging, hospital stay, blood tests, and medications, would easily pass $10,000.

I made this GoFundMe to help give Luna a chance to live a long, fruitful life as a member of our family household. Having just turned 1 year old on March 5, 2025, Luna has her whole life ahead of her.

Our family all fell in love with the feline friend. Luna can always be seen following Crystal around and knows two tricks: sit and stand. Ryan can often be seen playing with Luna, throwing springs for her to chase with endless delight. Not a day goes by when I don’t hear Mrs. Chang yell out, ‘Luna! Luna baby!’ as she calls for the furry fellow, and would immediately run upstairs. Even the stoic, ever-pragmatic Mr. Chang soon falls in love with the cat, as she sees him as her food-giver, and she likes to snuggle with him on the couch.
