Hello My name is Mayoree .. I am currently enrolled at Tuskegee University to obtain a Finance Degree . unfortunately Funding for my freshman year at The Prestigious University has fallen through Days before I’m scheduled to move in . I am unable to move in unless financially cleared of my $9k balance or At minimum down to $4k to possibly go on a payment plan. That my mom is willing to Pick up a 2nd job to cover .
My mom and I have thought and tried to do everything possible to ensure I could attend college this upcoming semester . We were already searching scholarships daily, but we inquired on more aid and workstudy and nothing has worked out.
. This is hard for me to write but my mom says you never know what blessings await for you if you’re not willing to admit you need help and give people the opportunity to help.
I have maintained honor, roll status, my entire school career up until 10th grade . I had Academically Advanced classes, college courses that changed when my Nana who was a breast cancer survivor moved in with me and my mom during covid Due to her having progressive lung cancer. I was my nana’s main caregiver aside from my mom .. During this time I got little sleep, experienced what stress was for the first time.. and then experienced my first death of a close loved one. My nana the 1 who supported me in everything I did my entire life. I was her First and Only Granddaughter of her last and Only daughter so naturally a bond was instant. And to this Day her absence is extremely haunting.. if she were here I’m sure she would have done anything to fix my financial troubles . After her passing in her Honor I worked my butt Off in 11th grade to requalify for my AA classes and obtain College credit courses. Unfortunately the hiccup in 10th grade was not enough to boost my gpa to land a merit scholarship for college . Something that was always in our game plan. My service resume was enough however to grant me admission to 1 of the Top and most prestigious Historically Black Colleges in the country . I would like to think my admission was my reward for the sacrifice of sleeping on a couch after I gave up my room or staying up til 4am during sick nights, being the oxygen tank pusher during chemo… but more importantly my wish to make my nana proud starts with getting to college . Please consider supporting my journey .Anything truly helps
