Help Luz Marina with her recovery.

ESPAÑOL - Somos la familia Carrascal Contreras. Quisiéramos pedirles ayuda en nombre de nuestra amada esposa, madre, familiar y amiga Luz Marina Contreras. Somos una familia colombiana de la ciudad de Barrancabermeja que lleva viviendo 22 años en Villavicencio y estas vacaciones mientras cumplíamos el sueño de viajar juntos a Europa empezó esta pesadilla que estamos viviendo. Estar en un país donde no conocemos a nadie con un familiar en la UCI.

Hace tres días, exactamente el jueves 29 de junio, en las horas de la madrugada, Luz Marina empezó con una fiebre que fue subiendo drásticamente, la llevamos inmediatamente de urgencias al hospital más cercano que era el Hospital da Luz Lisboa, en Portugal donde en cuestión de horas, Luzma, como muchos le decimos de cariño, entró en choque séptico, tuvo fallo de órganos vitales (sangre, hígado, riñones) tuvieron que ingresarla a cuidados intensivos, iniciarle hemodiálisis, inducirle un coma e intubarla para preservar su vida. Todo esto sucedió en menos de 24 horas. 

Todos los partes médicos han sido devastadores para toda nuestra familia, es una horrible pesadilla de la cual quisiéramos despertar y ver a nuestra Luzma con nosotros disfrutando y poder continuar con los planes que se habían hecho y para los cuales se hizo un enorme esfuerzo. El primer reporte médico que se obtuvo ya evidenciaba la gravedad del asunto, aunque en ese momento aún no la habían intubado ni le habían puesto la hemodiálisis.

Necesitamos la ayuda de todos en este momento porque los costos médicos van mucho más allá de lo que como familia podemos cubrir. El seguro médico para el viaje es de €35.000. Un solo día de UCI, durante esas primeras 24 horas tan críticas sumó un costo de casi €23.000. Los valores están todos detallados en las facturas que nos han entregado hasta el momento. En el momento no sabemos cuánto es el monto total, los médicos están haciendo todo lo posible por preservarle la vida a Luzma, pero esto obviamente significa que se deben pagar estos servicios. 

Nunca nos imaginamos que esta situación se agravaría a tal magnitud, la llevamos al hospital con la esperanza de que solo fuera algo pasajero, de pronto por alguna comida o por ser un nuevo ambiente ya que nos encontramos en Portugal cumpliendo uno de los sueños de Luzma de visitar el santuario de nuestra señora de Fátima, del cual Luz Marina es muy devota. Pero esta esperanza se vio destrozada abruptamente y ahora solo podemos esperar en un país desconocido que Luzma logre estabilizarse y eso será suficiente para volver a Colombia a seguir con su recuperación. De antemano queremos agradecer a todas las personas que nos puedan ayudar ya sea donando o compartiendo esta información.

We are the Carrascal Contreras family. We would like to ask you for your help for our loving wife, mother, family and friend Luz Marina Contreras. We are a colombian family from Barrancabermeje, and we have been living in Villavicencio for the past 22 years and while we were making our dream of traveling together to Europe come true this nightmare started. Being in a country where we don't know anyone and having a family member at the Intensive Care Unit.

Three days ago, exactly on Thursday June 29 in the early hours of the morning, Luz Marina started with a fever that went up drastically, we immediately took her to the closest emergency room which was the Hospital da Luz Lisboa, in Portugal where in a matter of hours, Luzma, like many we call her affectionately, went into septic shock, had vital organ failure (blood, liver, kidneys) was put on hemodialysis treatment and they had to induce a coma and intubate her to preserve the rest of her vital organs at the end of the first day. All this happened in less than 24 hours. 

All the medical reports have been devastating for our entire family, it is a horrible nightmare from which we would like to wake up and see our Luzma with us enjoying and being able to continue with the plans that had been made and for which an enormous effort was made. The first medical report that was obtained already showed the seriousness of the matter, although at that time she had not yet been intubated or given hemodialysis.

We need everyone's help right now because the medical costs are way beyond what we as a family can cover. The medical insurance for the trip is €35,000. A single day in ICU, during those critical first 24 hours, added up to a cost of almost €23,000. The values are all detailed in the invoices that have been delivered to us so far. At the moment we do not know how much the total amount is, the doctors are doing everything they can to preserve Luzma's life, but this obviously means that these services must be paid for. 

We never imagined that this situation would worsen to such an extent, we took her to the hospital with the hope that it was just something temporary, maybe because of some food or for being a new environment since we are in Portugal fulfilling one of Luzma's dreams to visit the sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima, to which Luz Marina is very devoted. But this hope was abruptly shattered. In advance, we want to thank all the people who can help us either by donating or sharing this information.
