Help Lyle get his treatment.

Dear friends and family my name is Lyle I am a very happy baby boy with a very loving family. I was born with a rare condition known as congenital vertical talus in both of my feet and I have contractures of the knee's. 1 in 10000 children are born with congenital vertical talus.

I currently need help getting to my appointments. As you can see I have a cast on my left leg. This cast has to be changed by my specialist every 5 to 10 days. The doctor that treats my condition lives very far away from home. We are having a hard time making it there. We need your help!

Lyle was born with a condition known as Congenital Vertical Talus. In the last few weeks of my girlfriends pregnancy her placenta became infected and stopped producing fluid. She was very sick and in a lot of pain and we took her to the hospital. There they discovered that there was little to no fluid in her stomach and needed to perform an immediate induction. Lyle was born that morning at 5lbs 14 oz he was beautiful.

When he was born his toes touched his shins

Its known as congenital vertical talus he has it in both feet one more severe than the other. He also has a contracture of the knee in both knees.

We saw a specialist in Portland at the Shriners hospital when he was 7 days old. We decided then stretching his legs and feet and seeing the progress over a few months to see what happens. We were hopeful that it would be that simple.

Stretching wasn't enough to correct his issue so they have begun casting his entire left leg. The cast has to be changed every 5 to 10 days. He will have to have new casts put on until his foot is in the right place for them to perform surgery. We have to drive from our home to Portland 3 to 4 times a month. It is a 700+mile round trip.

Our little family has gone through a lot this last year (a lot of us have). We have had many things affect our ability to help our baby. We have fallen behind on rent, bills, and our car is in need of repairs. We have to be to Portland in the next few days and really need help getting there.
