Help Lyndon explore Newfoundland

Donation protected

Edited:  I have decided to up our goal from $8000, to $13,500

Lyndon currently has a lend of a base model Hippocampe the cost is $5500, which is the amount I’ve added to our original $8000. Lyndon’s Mom and his therapist have been working on the quotes and customization of lyndons Hippocampe to best suit him and his needs, the cost of what Lyndon needs is $8000, our original goal.

When we reach our goal a second Hippocampe will be purchased and donated to the Janeway

Hi, my name is Vickii I am the Aunt of Lyndon.

Lyndon is a five year old twin who has cerebral palsy,

his Mom, my sister Adina loves to take hikes and walks and spend as much time outside with her boys and their sister (her stepdaughter) and she includes Lyndon in everything she can. Lyndon is in a wheelchair and sadly this enables him from taking hikes and walks on the beach as his wheelchair just isn’t made for such adventures. Adina (lyndons mom) was on a waitlist for a Hippocampe,a all terrain type wheelchair that allows people of disabilities to travel off the beaten path, she recently received a lend of one from the janeway and has it for three weeks, so she is out and exploring as much as possible even in this weather. My goal is to raise enough money to purchase this piece of equipment for Lyndon and once he’s outgrown it it will be donated to the janeway for others to use.

sadly Adina, with the help of some fabulous nurses at the janeway have explored other options to try and get funding but it’s all fallin through so this is our last hope. We are asking that if you are able to please help not just Lyndon but the many other children who will use this Hippocampe to get out and explore and be included.

I’m including a write up from Lyndons mom below

“Picture this,

You wake up and make note of the beautiful day outside your window. Based on the weather you plan to get out and hit the trails, the ECT is calling your name.

You pack your backpack, put on your hikers and you’re off to embrace the beauty of nature. It’s as simple as that. Wake up and go.

Now picture a person with physical disabilities who loves the outdoors as much as you but cannot hit the trails due to being confined to a wheelchair.

The endless hiking possibilities that are so easily accessible to you and me are a closed door to so many others.

But why? Why can’t people with disabilities avail of the beautiful hiking trails of the ECT here in NL?

Individuals like my son Lyndon, who immensely loves being outdoors. Loves the feeling of the sun and wind on his face, the sound of the birds, the flow of water, the crash of the waves on the rocks. But Lyndon is limited to where he can go when outside because he is non ambulatory and relies on a wheelchair to get around. Have you ever tried to get a wheelchair through loose gravel? Through the peet rocks at a playground? Through grass? It is near impossible and so frustrating. Going to the beach in a wheelchair, hahaha forget it.

Which brings me to the purpose of this go fund me.

Lyndon is a 5 year old boy living with Cerebral Palsy, who loves spending time with his family, and getting outside and exploring. But their have been times that Lyndon has not been able to join me and his siblings on hikes because his wheelchair is just not equipped for it and on these occasions my heart is heavy knowing that he is at home .

But it doesn’t need to be this way!!

We recently discovered an all terrain wheelchair called a Hippocampe and are fortunate enough to be borrowing one from the Janeway for the next few weeks. This chair is the cats meow! We have already taken it out to the suspension bridge in La Manche and went on a portion of Tinkers Point Path on the ECT.

In the almost 6 years of being his mom, I never dreamed that I would be able to take Lyndon on hikes. The day that we hiked La manche and he was beaming from ear to ear, smiling, laughing and taking in all of the amazing sights, made this mama cry. My heart was so grateful for this chair and the opportunity to use it. Lyndon went on his very first hike, something that would never have happened without the Hippocampe.

We would absolutely love to purchase one for Lyndon but unfortunately these chairs don’t come cheap.

If you are financially able and would love to help make a little boy smile and go on adventures with his family, then please consider donating to our go fund me.

A Hippocampe will open the world up to Lyndon in ways that I have only been able to dream about. You can help make our dreams come true.

I have upped our goal by $5500 this is the cost of a base model Hippocampe

Let’s buy two, so others like Lyndon can avail of this equipment that is most definitely NEEDED in our community.
