Help Lynette Attend Writer's Police Academy

Friends and supporters - many of you know my love of writing. I have a fantastic opportunity, but I need some help to bring it to fruition.

Today, I won an opportunity to attend the annual Writer's Police Academy in Green Bay, Wisconsin, June 1-5. This event is an INCREDIBLE opportunity for me as an aspiring writer. (https://writerspoliceacademy.com/)

This win covers the $515 registration to attend the event. Luckily for me, my daughter is a flight attendant, which means I can fly there and back on standby. But I need some help with the hotel stay. The attendees are staying at the Hilton Appleton Paper Valley in Appleton, WI and the discounted cost for four nights is $770.

I previously worked as a journalist and managing editor at The Daily Union, and I studied forensic science in Nottingham, England. While working as a reporter, I received multiple Associated Press credits and a Kansas Press Association first-place award for my work on a local unsolved cold case. Those awards helped me feel validated as a writer and researcher.

I have never given up on my passion for producing great stories, but my dream is to write fiction. Specifically, crime fiction. The Writer's Police Academy helps writers understand police and US court procedures to ensure we can honor them accurately in our otherwise fiction novels. Some of my favorite best-selling authors have attended this event, and I would love to take full advantage of this opportunity to receive the same education. I'll learn about fingerprinting, PIT maneuvers, crime-scene investigation, evidence gathering, eye-witness accounts, firearms, arrest and booking procedures, forced entry, room clearance - and much more!
