Help Lyon Recover

FRIDAY APRIL 21st, 2023 UPDATE

Lyon has been doing pretty well for the most part, he is still living at his moms house due to needing full time care. He is currently doing a round of IV antibiotics after his white blood count was found slightly elevated after blood work. Some nights and mornings can be extremely painful and rough but he typically starts to feel a little better by mid day.

He spent 42 days in the hospital after the first of the year but has been home since Feb 22. Our goal is to continue to keep him home and triage everything we need to do with the help
of home health and nurses who come twice a week.

He’d like to express his gratitude for all the love and support that he’s been given. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts for continuing to give him love. Fingers crossed that something will come out soon to help heal his intestine. We love y’all!

MONDAY DECEMBER 19th, 2022 UPDATE

Lyon has been making progress but it hasn't come without trials and tribulations. He is currently having to live at his mom's house because he needs more assistance and with Danica working full time, she just isn't able to be there full time with him to help. He has a nurse come two times a week to draw blood and change his PICC-line dressing as well as physical therapy twice a week.

He has been in and out of the hospital countless times since the last update and is recovering from large amounts of edema (the fluid that gets trapped in his tissue and causes severe swelling), multiple blood clots throughout his right leg as well as a systemic E-Coli infection. Lyon continues to bring his strength and positive attitude to every challenge that has been thrown at him, as he focuses on overcoming each hurdle to get back to his healthy self.

He would love to thank everyone for all their support, prayers, and donations. Life hasn't been easy but with your support and love, he continues to fight.

FRIDAY JULY 22nd, 2022 UPDATE

Since November 1st, 2019, Lyon has spent 485 days at Cedars Sinai hospital dealing with an intestinal fistula (hole in his intestine), inter-abdominal abscesses, very aggressive fast growing desmoid tumors wrapped around his small intestine and mesenteric artery, sepsis, edema, low hemoglobin and so much more. Since this is the height of the pandemic, he spends most of his admissions in the hospital alone, with no visitors allowed.

In January of 2022 during a procedure to put a new clamp on the fistula, he aspirated in post-op recovery, so his lungs filled up to 80% with vomit and acidic fluid. He was placed into a medically induced coma and put on life support because his lungs started to fail. The doctors gave him a 20% chance of waking up, and miraculously with the prayers of a strong community behind him, within 3 days he started to make a remarkable come back, and within a week after being placed in a coma, he woke up.

Since then, it’s been a long and difficult road to recovery, and although he takes a couple steps forward, if feels like he always takes 3 steps back. He’s been approved for disability, and although he gets a small, subsidized amount to help with living and medical expenses, it’s still not enough to make sure he’s living with no monetary fear. We hope that we can take away any fear of getting by monetarily while he focuses on healing and recovering his body.

Lyon is so grateful for every message and comment he receives of support. It’s been a really difficult time in his life, and he would not be moving forward without all the love and support he receives from this community.
