Help Mackenzie Fulfill Her Medical Dream

Hi!!! My name is Mackenzie Russell, and I am a freshman in high school. Recently, a club started at my school called MEDLIFE. This club is an opportunity for high school students to discover numerous fields in medicine, ranging from a dental hygienist to a doctor. Some of my classmates and I have gotten this incredible opportunity to go on a service learning trip to Peru for 8 days to shadow doctors and get a great taste of what the medical field is like.

I'm starting a GoFundMe to help raise funds to send myself to Peru. I come from a very, very hard-working family. My dad served in the United States military for 8 years. He also was overseas in Iraq fighting in Operation Enduring Freedom. mom raised me and my 2 other siblings at this time. She is devoted to her family and works very hard to put a roof over myself and my siblings' heads.

Going on, I have always been interested in the medical field. From asking my childhood doctor a million questions to getting this opportunity to go to Peru. Personally, I've always wanted to work in the medical field for as long as I can remember. I would love to work as a pediatrician. I am amazing with children and seeing a poverty-stricken community like Peru would put gas on the fire to my passion for medicine. I know this is a long stretch and a tremendous favor, but I think with the help of my community and family, sending me to Peru would be a dream come true!!
