Help Mackenzie Get a Wheelchair Van
Donation protected
Mackenzie was born with Trisomy 13 and Spina Bifida. She has been a blessing and a joy to her family, and it is exciting and fulfilling to watch her grow and thrive. With countless prayers and medical interventions Mackenzie has beat so many odds. She has overcome an open heart surgery, a VP shunt placement and a cleft lip repair, just to name a few. According to her palliative doctor, now she can live a long and happy life from what was originally foreseen as less than a week. She is an absolute miracle and we are so happy to be able to advocate for our Trisomy 13 community.
Mackenzie is now four years old and progressing so well that transporting her has become a struggle. She is not so itty-bitty anymore. Because of her spina bifida she is unable to move her legs so, wherever Mackenzie goes, so does her wheelchair. As much of a blessing she and her wheels are, with such a strong growing girl, it has become increasingly difficult to break down the chair and lift both Kenzie and her wheelchair in and out of out of the car, especially in the extreme temperatures that Texas so lovingly gives. We are hoping to get a wheelchair-compatible van to make things a little easier. The expense of such a van is prohibitive though, and the goal here is to raise money to help toward the cost of a wheelchair-compatible van. Such a van can run upwards to $80,000 but with the help of a friend who’s organizing this fundraiser, we found an organization that would be willing to convert a regular van to be wheelchair accessible free of cost. Step two, done- step one, pending! Our family would so grateful for anything you would be willing to contribute. Thank you for taking the time today to hear our story and have a blessed holiday season!
