Help Mackenzie’s Family During Medical Crisis

Hi all,

Thank you again for all of your support and prayers! Mackenzie and the family are back home for the time being. They are waiting for the cancer doctors to determine the best treatment and where those treatments will be. They could be in either Sioux Falls or Rochester.

They are all relieved to be home, but it is a big change for everyone while they continue to care for Mackenzie. The house needs a ramp built so it is easy to get in and out with a wheelchair. There are other accommodations to make inside the home as well. There will be home health assistance some, but the bulk of care falls on Heather and Brad, which makes working difficult. We appreciate your continued support and hope to get closer to our long-term goal as the weeks go by. This is a HUGE fight, but Mackenzie's got this!!

I wanted to give an update on Mackenzie’s story. They have found out that the mass on the brain is an aggressive form of cancer. The doctors are planning on 6 weeks of radiation, 5 days per week, and chemotherapy. There is a long road ahead and a huge battle for Mackenzie. Everyone is determined to win and knows Mackenzie has the fight to do it! Because of this diagnosis, I have increased the goal. We appreciate your generosity and prayers tremendously. Hi friends. This is Sandra and Wally Amundson, and we are friends with Heather and Brad Kopecky and family. Stephanie Wranek is Brad’s sister. Heather and Brad's 19-year-old daughter, Mackenzie, has had some health issues the past couple of months. These issues came to a head Thursday when she passed out. A CT scan revealed that she has a mass on her brain. She was flown to Sioux Falls from Miller and had surgery to take a biopsy and start draining fluid from her brain. They are currently waiting for the results of that biopsy, and once those are available, the medical team will decide the next steps. She will likely need a shunt to continue to drain this area of the brain.

Heather and Brad have 2 other girls in school still and will need to be in Sioux Falls with Mackenzie for an unknown amount of time. We would like to help them out during this stressful time. They have travel and lodging costs plus time away from work. If you have it in your heart to help them out, we would really appreciate that. We would also love prayers for Mackenzie and her medical team. Thank you so much!!
