Help Macy Bybee with Funeral and Medical Expenses

My name is Macy Bybee, My husband Jesse Bybee. We are both over the road truck drivers for Crete Carrier.

In May 2024 Jesse started experiencing back pain between his shoulder blades. He went to the Chiropractor in Cheyenne Wy and they ordered a X-ray of his back. However he had a load so he didn’t get the results, he went to work. Then he began having a chronic cough which he blew off to wildfire smoke and continued working. Then he started having constipation. He tried laxatives but nothing worked so he went to the ER in Wilmer Tx in June 2024. They gave him an enema and he went back to work. He began loosing weight, but he was overweight so he thought that was good. His back pain, chronic cough and constipation persisted and worsened. He came home early July and I took him to an Urgent Care Center in Dothan Al. They X-rayed his back and said he had Arthritis in his spine and gave him anti inflammatory medication and muscle relaxers and he went back to work. He got pulled into the terminal in Wilmer Tx for a random drug test and he reported medication to the safety department and safety shut him down in Loxely Al and required that he go to a DOT doctor to see if he needed the muscle relaxers or if there was something else he could take. They had the appointment for the physical on Monday. His hip went out over the weekend. Crete canceled the appointment and put him on medical leave on July 20, 2024. He went back to the urgent care center and they referred him to a bone specialist. He started physical therapy in Dothan while waiting for the doctor appointment. They gave him a walker because he couldn’t walk properly. The weight loss was significant, about 40lbs in 2 months. Still no one thought to check for cancer. The urgent care clinic ordered a CT scan of his hip. The CT scan was read on August 18.
The doctor said there were multiple nodules in his pancreas, liver and lungs. They ordered tumor markers blood tests which concluded that it was malignant. They referred him to Dothan Hematology and Oncology. They set up an appointment for a biopsy on September 10th. But continued physical therapy and the bone doctor put a steroid injection into his hip on August 23. He got down on the floor on August 25 and never got up again.
He was home alone and wouldn’t ask for help. I was on the road but could tell something was wrong by the way he sounded on the phone. My friend went over to check on him and found him laying on the living room floor between the couch and the coffee table. She had her son with her and tried to get him to let them help him up. He refused, telling her that he was more comfortable on the floor because it made his back pain better. So she left him there. When she returned the next morning he was still in the same spot, still refusing help up…..saying he was fine and he would get up when he was ready. My friend called me and told me he was still in the floor. I called my daughter who’s a RN. She went over and he told her the same thing. She called EMS and he told them that he could get up and they told him to do it. He couldn’t. They asked him if they got him up if he could walk, he said yes. So 3 of them got him up and he couldn’t walk. When they got him to the hospital they found cancer in his pancreas, liver, lungs and spinal mets that had caused fractures in his T5 and T6 vertebrae. He also had a pulmonary embolism and was dehydrated. He died on September 16 and was buried on September 20.
The funeral expenses are $13,459.00. I don’t know how much the medical expenses are going to be because I haven’t gotten all of the bills yet. Obviously all of his income has stopped so I down to just mine. Thank you for your consideration and any help you’re able to send. Thank you, Macy Bybee.
