HELP MADDI FIGHT LEUKEMIA

On August 24, 2022, our 2-year old daughter Madelyn, was diagnosed with Acute Megakaryoblastic Leukemia (AMKL AML-M7), which is a very rare subtype of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Since then, we have been In-Patient at the Childrens Hospital of San Antonio (CHOSA) for chemotherapy and close monitoring.

AMKL occurs predominantly in childhood and particularly in children with Down syndrome, accounting for approximately 10 % of pediatric AML cases. In contrast to DS-AMKL (∼80 % survival), non-DS-AMKL is an AML subgroup associated with a poor prognosis. For some studies, survival rates of only 14–36 % were reported, whereas, for other studies, survival rates of 50–70 % were reported.

Maddi is currently in the middle of 3rd round of chemo, when she began her 3rd round, there was a plan in place but unfortunately Maddi wasn't responding to her medication. Drs. decided to change gears and start a new plan. Today Maddi is half way thru her new plan of treatment.

Once Maddi is in remission, she will be transfered to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston for a transplant.
