Help Maddy Pursue a Career in Diagnostic Medical Sonography

My name is Maddy, and I’m on an exciting journey to pursue an Associate of Applied Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography through Charter College. After five years as a veterinary technician, I’ve realized that it’s time for me to transition my skills into human medicine, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to take this next step in my career.

For the last nearly two years, I’ve had the privilege of working with a fantastic company that provides diagnostic sonography to pets. I’ve had the opportunity to observe echocardiograms, abdominal ultrasounds, and other imaging modalities, and I have fallen in love with the field of sonography. It’s become clear to me that this is where my heart is, and where I want to continue growing professionally.

I’m proud of the veterinary technician I’ve become. Compassion, dedication, and diligence have always been at the core of my work with my furry patients. And now, I’m ready to bring those same qualities to human medicine, where I can make an even greater impact. I’ve been taking courses at Salt Lake Community College to prepare for this transition, and I’ve truly enjoyed being back in school and expanding my knowledge.

I’ve got the passion, the determination, and (let’s be honest) I look great in scrubs—but there’s one thing standing between me and my educational goals: the financial burden. Unfortunately, veterinary medicine is a field of the heart, not one that provides much financial security, and as much as I hate to ask for help, I’ve come to realize that I need support to make this dream a reality. The total cost of my program is about $37,000, and while I’m doing everything I can to avoid student loans, it’s just not feasible without some help from my amazing community.

That’s where you come in. Your generosity can help me achieve this life-changing goal. I will be applying for either the August or December class, and any funds raised here will go directly toward my tuition. If I apply for the December class, all donations will be placed in a student savings account to accrue interest until I’m ready to start school.
