Help Madigan travel with IUHPFL!

Hi!

This summer I will be participating in the IU Honors Program for Foreign Languages (IUHPFL) study abroad program in Oviedo, Spain. The selection process for the program was quite involved and was based on strong overall academic standing and high performance in Spanish. I was the only person from my town that was selected. I’m very happy that the IUHPFL Selection Committee chose me to participate this summer!

This will be my first time traveling to Europe, and I’m so excited for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I will be fully immersed in the Spanish language and with a host family for 4.5 weeks – that means ZERO English! I am especially excited about this aspect of the program, as I hope to attain practical fluency in Spanish by the time I return home. While in Oviedo, I will attend daily classes in Spanish grammar, culture, phonetics, and conversation. In addition, I will get the opportunity to travel and explore Spain with both the IU Honors Program and my host family. I would love the opportunity to see the Cantabrian Mountains. I am super excited to make lifelong relationships with my host family, other students in the program, and anyone else I meet.

My family and I are working hard at making this trip possible for me, but we are seeking sponsorships to help offset the expenses. The tuition plus airfare is approximately $7500.
