Help Maemay kick cancer's rear

Donation protected

**UPDATE**

The reconstruction area would not get blood supply so they tried leech therapy (where she said they would sew leeches into her mouth). They also tried hyperbaric treatment but unfortunately neither of these treatments worked.

The tough decision was then made to use the bone from the opposite leg and try all over again. She went in at 9am and at midnight we found out that she was still in surgery because the blood supply to the reconstructed area kept clotting. They can't figure out why and have tried everything they could think of to get it to stop, but were unsuccessful.

The only option now is to remove what they've just done - again, and take non bone/hard tissue/muscle from her chest area to fill the wound. This tissue doesn't need to be hooked up to any blood supply.

There will be long term care down the road regarding reconstructive things due to there being no bone in place but it will give her the opportunity to heal and continue on with the rest of treatment.

The good news is they got all the cancer, which we are so, so thankful for. Unfortunately because they used bones from both legs instead of what they expected to use, we believe she will be moved to a rehabilitation facility instead of going home right away. This all means more time for healing and being out of work.

I know it's the holidays and everyone is stressed and money is tight, but please if you can just share this, or if you are blessed enough to have it, please donate to help her. She didn't, and doesn't deserve this, no one does. If you just keep her in your thoughts and prayers please, she has a long road ahead of her, let's let her know she's doesn't have to go through this alone.

P.S. Thanks for loving and helping my sister, Maemay.

I'm not good at asking for help, and if it was for myself, I wouldn't. But, an amazing woman is going through more than one person should. This woman is my beautiful sister Mädchen, Maemay, as I call her.

She is an amazing mom and has survived things that would have made most of us give up. We lost both our parents in the summer of 2020, and she lost her loving husband, Mel Knowles, to COVID in 2021.

As if this wasn't enough, she has now unfortunately been diagnosed with mouth cancer. [I'll update this when I have the technical name]. She has to have part of her jaw removed and replaced with a bone and vein from her leg. Then, she has to endure chemotherapy. She works for the post office where she lives, and just getting to the point of being diagnosed has eaten her paid time off/sick time.

She has helped so many people in her life, and it would be nice if we could help her get through this. She's going to be out of work for months and still has children at home.

Please help in any way you can, even if it's just by sharing this GoFundMe.
