Let’s Get Maggie Back Outside Safely!

They say it takes a village to raise a child, and those of us how have gone through tough times know the power of the village when you really need it. Village, now is our time to step in and help little Maggie (age 5) and Mallory (age 4) in Pottstown, PA.

Maggie suffers from Tourette’s, anxiety, sleep disorders, anger, OCD, hyperactivity and gastritis. She also very likely has autism, but the family is currently on a long wait list for diagnosis and additional resources.

In the last week or so, Maggie has been struggling even more and, as her mother says “is not herself.” She has taken to “eloping”, which basically means she just runs at every opportunity she can. She has run into or very close to the road several times, and now her parents, Pam and Shawn, have been forced to keep both Maggie and Mallory indoors for Maggie’s safety.

Per Pam: “There have been a lot of changes with Maggie in the past week. She’s not herself. Something is wrong and we are very concerned for her and her safety towards herself. She knows she is unable to control some things that are happening and it is very scary for her. She can’t play outside and she is devastated. We have a lot ahead of us. More than any little girl and her sister should have to deal with.”

Now all these little girls want to do is go outside and play – the swing set is a happy place for Maggie - but that is not possible until they can get a fence installed at their home.

Shawn and Pam are still getting estimates for the fence, but it’s very likely going to be over $7,000, and most local companies don’t offer financing or take credit cards.
