My name is Brittney, I am an American citizen and I am sponsoring Mahmoud's campaign. We met on social media when a mutual friend told me someone was in need of a campaign sponsor. He initially started this GFM as a way to evacuate in order to find a job in Egypt but because of the extreme circumstances and high prices he's decided to use some funds for daily expenses.

Here is his message:

"Hello, my name is Mahmoud Moieen, I am 21 years old, and I have lived in Deir al Balah my entire life. I started this campaign in hopes of evacuating to Egypt where I could find employment to support my family in Gaza. But due to the rising prices and size of my family I have extended the campaign to account for daily expenses like food, water, and hygiene products.

Three years ago, the occupation prevented my father from traveling for medical treatment. Unable to receive lifesaving chemotherapy we were forced to watch his condition worsen. After his passing I became a part-time student, studying and working in order to secure my family's future. My lifelong dream was to make my late father proud by becoming an electrical engineer just like him. Before the start of this genocide, I was taking the steps to achieve that dream. I had enrolled at Palestine Technical College while working at an electrical distribution company. But now, the college has become a refugee camp, preventing me from continuing my education. Even my workplace was destroyed, cutting off our source of income. My mother and 5 siblings rely solely on your shares and donations. They help us secure basic necessities like food, clean water, health care, and shelter.

We have not been spared from anything. I have captured destruction with my own eyes. My neighbor’s house was bombed, and out of fear we fled. Everyday I am frightened by what I will wake up to. We are in constant search of assurance, and I hope you are able to give that to my family by sharing our campaign.

Please help us survive the ongoing genocide. I’d like to make my father proud by becoming an electrical engineer with my own shop to support my family. Please help me in realizing that dream."

This is Mahmoud, when he first got accepted to his technical school, his biggest dream is to be an electrician like his late father.

While Mahmoud attended classes he also worked on multiple projects.

These images show the destruction that caused Mahmoud to flee.

In June, he was displaced once again when they bombed the place he was residing.

This news post mentions how Mahmoud's old work place was destroyed, he can no longer work and is shown standing atop the rubble.

In August 2024 his family lost their entire home. They tried to salvage anything they could but we're forced to relocate. Mahmoud is holding a piece of the rocket that destroyed their home.

Mahmoud is collecting firewood to keep warm and to cook during the winter.

Regarding Money Transfers:
I will be transfering the money via Paypal. For transaction receipts check the following folder. You must access this through a web browser, the gfm app doesn't always work.

Mahmoud alone needs $10,000 if he decides to evacuate. The target goal is greater because of the fees charged by GFM and Paypal.

Below is the cost breakdown:
  • Rafah Crossing Permit:$7,000
  • Visa application fee:$300
  • Daily Expenses¹:$2,278
  • GFM Donation Fee²:$890
  • Paypal International Transfer Fee³:$532

¹ Mahmoud has to purchase supplies like food, water, and medicine (lab reports in the updates). The prices vary but generally he pays $90 for vegetables, $45 for 2kg of soap, $60 for 3 kg of flour, and $50 for the medicine that treats his abdominal pain. These are reoccurring expenses and this does not cover everything else he and his family need to survive. Think about everything we use daily to cook, clean, and clothe ourselves and our families.

² This is under the assumption that everyone makes the minimum donation of $5. GFM charges a donation fee of 2.9%+$0.30 for each donation made. So if 2,000 people donated $5 dollars GFM would make $890 from the fees.

The math breakdown is below:

$5 * 0.029 * 2,000 =$290, this accounts for the 2.9% but 0.30 is deducted from each donation

2,000 *$0.30 =$600
$290 +$600 =$890

³ I will be transferring the money to Mahmoud via Paypal. Paypal charges an international fee of 5.0%+$4.99. For a transfer of $10,535 the fee would be $532. The math breakdown is below:

$10,540 * 0.05 =$527, this accounts for the 5.0% but there is also a maximum $5 fee, giving us a total of $532 that will be deducted from the $10,540 being sent.
