Help Mahmoud from Gaza Pursue His Dreams

Hello, my name is Mahmoud Abu Swierh, and I am a 17-year-old from Al-Nuseirat in Gaza. Thank you for taking a moment to read my story.

I come from a large, close-knit family with three brothers and two sisters. Life used to be filled with joy and promise, and I was an outstanding student throughout my education. I was preparing for my final year of high school, known as "Tawjihi" in Palestine, with high hopes for the future.

However, the recent war on Gaza has turned our lives upside down. The school where I studied has been partially destroyed, and I have lost many teachers and classmates. My education came to a sudden halt, and our daily focus shifted to mere survival. Basic necessities like food and water have become scarce and prohibitively expensive. We live in constant fear, grateful for every moment we remain alive.

The ongoing conflict, now lasting over 300 days, has devastated our once peaceful city. My family and I work tirelessly to obtain the basics of life. My youngest sister was born during this war, and providing for her and the rest of my family has been incredibly difficult.

Despite these overwhelming challenges, I refuse to let my dreams die. I have come to realize that continuing my education here in Gaza is no longer feasible. Initially, I didn’t want to leave my home, but after losing hope in completing my education here, I recognized the need to move. Reluctantly, I have decided to leave my beloved city in search of a safer environment where I can complete my studies. With A month remaining until the start of the school year, I am optimistic that, with your help, I can make it.

My goal is to continue my education abroad, where the institute has kindly promised to support students from Gaza. To achieve this, I aim to raise 12,500 Canadian dollars. Here’s the breakdown of the costs:

• 7,000$ : To cover the expenses of leaving Gaza.

• 7400$: For housing, living expenses: and other essentials abroad for a year.

• 600$ Approx.: To cover GoFundMe transaction fees (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction).

This campaign was created with the kind assistance of a relative in the Canada, and I will be receiving the funds from him through my father's bank account once they are collected.

Leaving my family, relatives, and friends is a heart-wrenching decision, but I believe it is the only way to secure a brighter future. Your support will not only help me achieve my dreams but also enable me to give back to my family and community in Gaza.
