Help Maid of Honor Recover From Tragic Accident

Donation protected
My name is Isabella, and I am writing on behalf of my maid of honor and dearest friend, Layla Ketchum. I’m going to write this from my perspective since it’s still too soon to ask our Layla to relive it all.
On Thursday night, June 15th, Layla, amongst many family and friends, were at our wedding venue late to set up and prepare for our Friday wedding. We all left to rest up, so the bridesmaids and us headed over to our rented home. Layla and my little sister Emma, who was my wife’s maid of honor, both left first. As my wife and I were around one mile from arriving at the home, we noticed a white truck with a car pinned behind it that was wrapped around a pole. Our hearts immediately dropped. We knew that my little sister and best friend were driving down this road right before us, so I began calling the both of them in hopes they would answer and be completely fine while my wife went around asking for details. After both of them not answering my calls, dread rushed over me. I did the one thing I was avoiding the most, which was checking their location. Once it loaded, Layla’s pin was right beside mine. I immediately ran out of the car begging and pleading with the paramedics and officers for any information. They only responded with asking me to stay calm, which only led my mind to believe they both were gone. I instantly fell to the floor screaming, to which my wife ran over dragging me around the ambulance and telling me to look up. There were my two sisters, one by choice and one by chance, sitting on the gravel bedside their crumbled car covered in blood. After calling our parents, they both headed to the hospital in ambulances due to the two of them being unable to stand and in and out of consciousness.
We all spent the night and morning in the emergency room back in forth between them until finding out that my little sister Emma was going to be able to get discharged the next morning with only a fractured collar bone, nose, and some abdominal pain, (I say “only”, because the majority of the night we weren’t 100% certain they would make it). Layla unfortunately was not as lucky. She took the brunt of the impact with the front left side of the car being the part that was wrapped around the pole. I stayed with her into the morning, the day of the wedding, with intent to cancel it all together. If you know Layla, you know of her compassion, heart, and love she has for her family. Due to this and her absolute selflessness, Layla would not in any way allow us to not go through with our wedding, even if it meant she wouldn’t not be there. For the entire day, she was begging the doctors and nurses to let her out so she could just see us get married, even with her nearing critical condition from the great risk of infection in her leg.
She is still currently in the hospital after having surgery on her right leg yesterday night, and is in constant pain. They are monitoring her closely, and all can see her strength and perseverance through her actions and attitude during this devastating time.
After losing her newly bought car, needing to be home bound to do physical therapy for the next month and a half, on top of her enormous amount of medical bills all at just 21 years old, she is in the deepest distress both mentally, physically, and financially. We need to also purchase aids for her newfound short-term disability, such as crutches, shower chairs, handle supports and much more. Any donations whatsoever will help her get through this difficult and challenging time with more ease and support. My wife, parents and I will be caring for her as much as possible over the course of her recovery, and all cannot express in words how grateful and appreciative we all are for any help. She is a beautiful, caring, loving light in this world and deserves nothing but joy and happiness.
