Help Maine Family's Journey Back Home

Donation protected
Hi Everyone, If you recognize us, then you know who we are; if you don't let me tell you a little bit about us and this situation we have found ourselves in.

We are a hard-working family from Maine, who took a chance on a job in Texas that started December 2023. At that time we packed up our camper and hit the road with a friend who offered the job and towed us to TX. Since being here, we have worked hard and saved but the income has not kept up with expenses as was expected. We are now finding ourselves in a situation where we need to get back home and cannot afford to. We do have some money saved from our efforts to go towards transportation costs, we just weren't able to save enough.

The friend who towed us to Texas is unable to tow us home, so we are looking at two options. Option 1; we pay a long-haul trucking outfit to pull our camper home and we fly back or Option 2; we put a down payment on a truck and pull ourselves home. Either option has a price tag of $3,000-$4,000 and we just don't have that much saved.

The group we have been working with in Texas (who has graciously taken us into their fold, given us work and helped pull our camper to each new job site) will be leaving for North Dakota in a couple of weeks. Once they leave we will be in a very bad situation here if we cannot come up with the funds to get back home.

We are not alone; my husband and I, as well as my 5 year-old daughter and 18 year-old niece are with us making this even more scary than it might be if it were just the two of us.

The amount of money we need feels like too much to ask any one person to help with, and we are downright embarrassed to even have to ask our community for help, but my hope is that perhaps with many chipping in a little each, we can pull together what is needed to get us home safely to Maine.

Please know we did not come here on a whim. We came to Texas to chase a dream that was sold to us and painted to be better than it was in reality. We have spent the last 3 months working our butts off, doing our best to make things work with what we have, and saving to get home along the way, but as we all know life is expensive and we have fallen short.

With only two weeks left before we are essentially stranded, starting this Go Fund Me feels like one of our last options. Anyone who knows me personally knows that I have a huge heart and will do anything I can to help another person in a time of need. This us our time of need and I have to admit; I'm downright scared of this predicament we are in.

If you've read this far, thank you. If you know me and are considering donating but would like more info, feel free to DM me, I'll answer any questions you have. If you don't know us but you've found yourself down and out and far from everything familiar, anything you would be willing to help with will be appreciated with our whole hearts.

We will keep working over these next couple of weeks, continuing to do our best to save every penny we can; any donations to help us bridge the gap to get our family home safely would mean the world to us right now. And when we someday find ourselves home, and back to better days, you want to know we will pay it forward 100%. Thank you for taking the time to read this far. If you want to help but cannot donate, please share; you never know that share might reach.
