Help 11 yr old Makaela beat HLH
Donation protected
Mikaela is a vibrant, sweet and smart young lady, she is the heart and light of her family, the daughter of my friends Genevie and Chris Kneir. The past few weeks were trying and challenging as she developed multiple symptoms that baffled the doctors, after weeks in the pediatric ICU and a bone marrow biopsy, she was diagnosed with Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH).
"...it is a life-threatening condition that can be defined as either primary or secondary HLH. Primary, or “familial,” HLH is when the condition is inherited. The term secondary HLH is used when your doctor thinks the condition may have occurred for a variety of other non-inherited reasons.
Patients with primary HLH have cells of the immune system called T and NK cells that don’t work properly. These cells become overactive, causing too much inflammation. Ordinarily, these cells should destroy infected, damaged cells of the body. In HLH, the immune system begins to damage the patient’s own tissues and organs, including the liver, brain and bone marrow where blood is made."

Please join me in helping Mikaela fight and conquer this disease, money raised will go towards aggressive treatment and medications.
Treatment may include Chemotherapy, Steroids and Stem cell. Second opinion and treatment from Cincinnati Children's Hospital in Ohio is also a goal of the family. Travel and extended housing in Ohio is considered to get Mikaela the treatment she needs. The family is aggressively looking at treatment options and seeking specialists.
Keep her and her family in your prayers. Thank you
