Let’s make studio 66 great again!

My name is Leanne and I am the owner of studio 66 salon in uptown New Westminster. After surviving COVID, without being open even a year, and trying to stop a Snapchat cyber attack on our google ratings, most people know, we were shut down back in May 2024 for 5 weeks to have the sewer pipes repaired under our building. It is now the end of February 2025 and the process still hasn’t been completed which has caused a significant financial loss to the business, even causing negative google reviews. Over these last 2 weeks of February, we again have been without water to now replace the previous pipes that were repaired. The entire complex requires access for the repairs under our unit specifically which is in our back room. During this process, we have not had

access to our back room or bathroom, our floor has been cut open and temporarily covered with a piece of unsafe plywood and there was damage to the rest of the floor. It is still like this today as we haven’t yet completed the insurance process. Initially we made an insurance claim to cover our 5 weeks of loss. We were told the deductible for this would be $25000 because it was sewer related even though it was not us that made the sewer claim. Our lost revenue, utilities and staff wages are more than this but should we have to pay it, it will still leave us in the negative as well as increase our premium. The current upgrades to the pipes they doing now are not covered at all under insurance. After asking for any compensation from the owners we were told they would not help in any way. This is not the city. Today the business is still profitable but as most people know a small business makes a very small profit each month. It may take up to 2 years to cover our outstanding debt as the interest continues to accrue. The staff and I are asking for any contribution to keep us together and stay up and running. We are hoping to only cover our costs without having to make the insurance claim. We love our job, our clients and each other. It is hard to ask for monetary help and if you can’t do this, a google review to increase our rating, from a previous Snapchat attack, to generate more guests would also be amazing.
