Help make the Nicaragua Basketball Program happen
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Daniel Peterson, and I'm a senior at a small-town high school in CA called Albany High. I'm fundraising because I've started an international nonprofit basketball program for kids who don't have as much as I do. I originally started this program in Guatemala with the support of my late grandmother who worked for a nonprofit there. Although she passed away right before our first trip, I have run this program in her memory ever since. This program is a basketball camp where four of my basketball buddies (ALTAY HODOGLUGIL, BEAU JONES, HERBERT BELLOSO-HERNANDEZ) and I travel to another country to foster cultural exchange and joy to students in rural communities through sports. For the past two years, we've gone to Chimaltenango, Guatemala, to teach basketball and create lifelong friendships with 300+ students there. This April, we're expanding the program for the first time to kids in the Corn Islands in Nicaragua. However, this is only possible with funding. We're trying to fundraise for plane tickets, food, lodging, basketball equipment to help repair the courts, and other forms of transportation, such as Pangas. As my friends and I head to college, this trip will solidify the program as an international one and something that we can continue to carry on to more countries.
So please help us out; I promise you none of this money goes to us and all to the program; any money we don't use for the program will become donations directly to schools and families there. I've learned to love basketball throughout all the years I've played, and now I'm trying to share that joy with kids worldwide. It's not just about basketball though, but about the experiences and memories those kids will make and the cultural exchange for both American and Nicaraguan Kids. Thank you if you've read this far.
