Help Makeena Knock Cancer Out!

I am Makeena’s uncle Brook, and this page is dedicated to supporting the Christian family as Makeena battles leukemia.

On January 29, 2022, Makeena was brought to Children's Hospital in Vancouver. That night, Caprice learned news that no parent can ever be prepared for: Makeena had cancer. What is to follow will be days of tests, uncertainty, and loads of bravery as they learn to navigate life with Makeena’s Leukemia. The plan for Makeena’s treatment is still being decided but the family will be at Children's Hospital in Vancouver for the better part of the next six months, followed by trips back and forth from black creek to Children’s Hospital in Vancouver for follow-up care.

Throughout it all, Makeena. Our funny, confident, sweet, caring, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend is making her way through battles no 14-year-old should have to fight with her trademark smile and unwavering confidence. We’re all learning a thing or two from Keena.

We have created this GoFundMe account to help support Mischa, Caprice, Makeena and Aspyn, as the next days, weeks, and months ahead will be filled with travel to and from Children’s hospital, doctor visits, and time off work. We can help ease the financial burdens so Caprice and Mischa can concentrate all their time and energy on supporting Makeena. And let's cheer them all on as we watch Makeena kick cancer's butt!
