Help Malakai teach! Black Educators Matter.

As a mother the last thing you want is to see your children hurt. You raise them to follow their dreams and be good humans.

So, to watch my oldest daughter Malakai constantly get let down by the University she committed so deeply to 5 years ago is overwhelming.

In May of 2022, Malakai graduated from Bethel University with a B.S. in Art Education & B.S. in Studio Art. That was the happiest day of her life. We laughed & cried. Reminisced on the time she didn't think she would make it to see that day. She ran track & cross country for Bethel, worked in Admissions, was a RA, as well as worked in Facilities as a custodian. Her artwork was featured at Raspberry Days & she worked closely with Bethel's Black Student Union. She was so devoted in helping Bethel grow. As she loved her University.

So, you can imagine her dismay when she found out in late August 2022, there was an error with her transcript and she needed to retake 2 classes. This error was found in a late audit that prohibited Bethel from releasing her official transcripts. This news came days before she was to start New Teacher orientation at her alma mater.

Unfortunately, because she had to retake those classes she lost her job because she couldn't get her license complete on time. The district was very understanding and has been so kind every step of the way.

Bethel's recommendation came with a high cost. She had to take 2 classes without any financial aid. All she wanted to do was teach, so she took the classes in hopes they would work with her on aid. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.

Now she is stuck with a bill of $14,486.87. She is currently facing, the chance she may not get her transcripts released again. This time due to the cost of these 2 classes.

I am asking for help. She wants to teach and give back because it was Art that saved her. She wants to help be that for others. Malakai had no idea I was creting this page for her. She never wants to be a bother to anyone and gives so much of herself to others. I just want to be able to see her succeed, she's worked so hard for this.

Any amount helps greatly. We appreciate your consideration.

Blessings...
