Help Malik relocate to Pakistan from Afghanistan

On August 15, 2021, Kabul fell to Taliban forces following the U.S. troop withdrawal. During this time, many businesses had to close due to tight restrictions and the imminent threat posed by the Taliban. My friend, Malik, who I met several years ago while on a U.S.-government-sponsored Model United Nations conference in Nepal, was severely impacted by the change in power. He lost his job and his livelihood, as well as several family members to Taliban attacks since the takeover.
Malik has worked for several U.S. government-sponsored organizations, volunteered for countless initiatives, and generally been a proponent for liberalism, women's rights, and democracy. For the past six years, Malik has been involved in working to bring peace and gender equality to his home country, with the hope of bringing change to impoverished youth and disenfranchised individuals. Even now, with the Taliban takeover and the threat it poses, Malik is passionate about the direction of Afghanistan and the work he has done.
His life changed overnight, and not without threat to it. Thankfully, Malik has been approved for a visa from Pakistan so the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Population, Refugee, and Migration can process his case from a third country. The cost of travel and living during the 12-14 month process, however, is not insubstantial.
If Malik cannot afford a plane ticket to Pakistan, he'll have to travel by road, which is currently dangerous as fighting rages between Taliban and ISIS fighters. Finding work once he arrives and being able to sustain the cost of living, will also be difficult. Please consider donating if you can, and sharing this fundraiser. Malik is an amazing person and deserves a life where he can continue enacting change and be a positive force for the world! Funds are needed as soon as possible. Thank you.
