Help Malikah and Ms. Bertha Recover After Devastating Fire

With the fires devastating LA County, our close friends Malikah Nu'Man & Bertha Jackson (mother of Malikah) were impacted directly - losing their home, car and all possessions in Altadena, CA from the Eaton Fire.

The Friends of Malikah and Bertha are asking for your support in getting them the funds they need to get their feet back on the ground as they work through this very troubling time. Having left their home with nothing but the clothes they were wearing, certain they'd be back home in no time, that was not the case.

Unfortunately, this particular story is very common at the moment and this one hits close to our hearts in a very real way. Malikah has been a close friend to many and strong advocate for the voiceless her entire career as an educator.

Dr. Malikah Nu'Man spent many years educating and caring for Special Needs students in the LAUCD school system. With a passion for students and the education system as a whole, Malikah earned her PhD to make the greatest impact she could day in and day out. She is currently serving as the Administrator for SELPA (Special Education Local Plan Area) in Santa Clarita, CA.

Bertha, better known as Malikah's 'best friend', is her mother and a warm, amazing human. A recent cancer-survivor, she raised a daughter who has become a champion for all who need support.

Malikah's stand for humanity doesn't end there - as a featured rider & fundraiser for the AIDS LifeCycle in 2016, she learned to ride a bike for the first time so she could ride in honor of her father who passed away from AIDS when she was a child. When she sets her sight on making a difference, there is NOTHING that will get in her way.
