Honoring the Life and Legacy of Raymond Abdul Malik (Poop) Dawson
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Raymond Abdul Malik Dawson, lovingly known as “Poop.”
On December 18, 2024, Malik’s courageous battle with multiple health challenges came to an unexpected end due to complications from RSV. He was 73 years old.
Despite enduring COPD, congestive heart failure, acute renal failure, and the relentless toll of dialysis treatments three times a week, Malik faced life with unmatched strength and resilience. Even with a pacemaker and defibrillator supporting his heart, he never wavered in his determination to live and love.
Tragically, his health took a sudden decline. Severe lung inflammation and two cardiac arrests after dialysis led to life support, but despite the tireless efforts of medical professionals, Malik passed away, leaving a void in our family that can never be filled.
Malik was the last surviving child in his family and the devoted son of his 91-year-old mother, who cared for him lovingly despite her own challenges along with his lovely wife who was along bedside of he husband as he transitioned. They’ve now grieves the heartbreaking loss of a son and husband while both are living on a fixed income. Adding to this pain, we discovered his life insurance policy was compromised, leaving no financial safety net to cover funeral expenses.
We humbly ask for your support to raise $8,500 to honor Malik’s memory and provide him with a dignified funeral in his hometown in New Jersey, where he can be laid to rest surrounded by love.
This burden has fallen on his wife & 91-year-old mother, his devoted daughter’s , grandchildren, and his newborn great-granddaughter—all of whom are navigating this loss with immense grief and limited resources.
Malik’s life was defined by love, perseverance, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends.
