Help Mama C Get His Smile Back

We are the Friends of Mama C, a group of people who have been fortunate enough to know, love, and be loved by our good friend Chris Brown, otherwise known as Mama C. We have come together now to help him raise money for the dental surgery and dentures that he desperately needs to regain his beautiful smile.

How did Mama C come by his nickname, you ask? Well if you’ve ever spent any amount of time with him, you would quickly see that his heart is enormous (bigger than his beard!) and that he cares deeply for his friends, family, and fur babies. He is warm and wise, with a wicked sense of humor and a no-nonsense approach to life. He is always ready to offer words of advice or to jump to a friend’s aid, and we consider ourselves extremely lucky to have him in our lives.

So, too, do all of the animals Chris has rescued over the years. A lifelong lover of critters, Chris frequently opens his heart and his door to pets in need of a good home. He and his husband Greg currently parent two cats and four dogs, one of whom (Betty White, AKA Miss Boujee Betty) is a senior dog who was found on the street, blind and deaf and starving. Under Chris’ care Miss Betty is not only strong and healthy but has become a minor IG celebrity, posing in the adorable dresses her parents buy for her.

It should come as no surprise that Chris has been a caregiver and a public servant his whole life. He was a postal employee and mail carrier in Michigan where he frequently had to hand deliver mail in snow and subzero temperatures. But despite his almost two decades of service to and subsequent retirement from the United States Postal System, Chris has never been covered by dental insurance and has had to pay for his own dental care out of pocket.

In recent years, Chris’ lifetime of caring for others has caught up to him and started to have an impact on his health. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, Chris has had to battle numerous painful symptoms on a daily basis. A heart attack only compounded his health issues and the numerous medications he is now on have taken their toll on his teeth. He lives with constant oral pain and the only solution is to have his deteriorated teeth pulled and replaced with dentures that will allow him to chew, eat, and smile again.

True to Mama C’s big-hearted nature, when discussing this fundraising campaign, he stated that any amount of money that people are able and willing to give would be deeply appreciated, and that if by some miracle he is able to raise more than he needs for his dental work, he will gladly pass it along to the next person in need.

We are asking you to help a person who never asks for help, a man who consistently puts others’ needs before his own, and a committed friend to animals everywhere. Please help us bring back Mama C’s smile!
