Help Mamadou Build A Life In NYC

Hello,
My name is Kareem Rahma. Three months ago, I noticed a man collecting cans and bottles in my neighborhood every single day, rain or shine. After seeing him around nearly every day, we got to talking, and he told me that he is a migrant who just moved here from Senegal. Mamadou speaks only French, so we have been communicating via Google Translate.
Over the course of several months, I have gotten to know Mamadou very well. He's a wonderful, positive, and hardworking man. I have been helping him out by giving him small odd jobs, as well as some financial assistance from time to time. He has never asked me for a single dime; only help with communicating, finding a job, looking for a place to stay and so on.
Mamadou is currently in migrant housing and must move out literally tomorrow on November 2nd. I am creating this fundraiser to help Mamadou find a new permanent apartment or room to stay in and alleviate just a small amount of the day-to-day financial burden he is facing.
If anyone knows of:
- rooms for rent under $500 a month
- a steady job for Mamadou (dishwashing, moving, etc)
- a French-speaking migrant-orientated organization that I can put him in touch with
Please let me know.
I will personally be giving Mamadou the funds raised via personal check or cash.
UPDATE: WOW blown away by how quickly you all rallied to support - Raising the goal to $8000 in hopes that Mamadou can find additional support and stability as he settles into life in New York.
